Val is the New Freddy Fender

Here it is. Day Three of my four-day holiday weekend, and I have once again let life get in the way of writing. There's really no way around it, short of leaving home, or locking myself in Hick's concrete-walled, steel-doored safe room. I cannot escape my familial responsibilities. Well, maybe I could have skipped watching Mean Girls with The Pony on Friday night from 9:00 to 11:00. But a child needs quality time with his mother. And his peals of laughter were precious to behold.

Wasted days and wasted nights. I wonder if Freddy Fender was a writer. Besides songs, I mean. I try and try to budget my time, but as with any regular weekend, I run out of weekend before I run out of chores. I can squeeze in the bare basics, and then time is up. Back to work. Lucky for me, I'm off Monday. But I have to do the Walmart shopping, which I didn't do today, because, well, it's Easter Sunday. And I couldn't do it yesterday, because I had to boil 48 eggs and 10 pounds of potatoes. And make potato salad and vegetable dip. And toss in two loads of laundry. I couldn't do it Friday, because I did the Save-A-Lot shopping for ingredients for the Easter food. Oh, and in between, my boys demanded pancakes for breakfast, and two other meals a day! Sometimes, I get so frustrated I could just cry.

Oops! Time got away from me again. I've got to go watch Amazing Race. But I really need to get a handle on this time-management issue. Before the next teardrop falls.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade...Well, when life throws up obstacles, preventing you from writing, why not use that as fodder for a Chicken Soup for the Writer's Inspiration story? I have a feeling you could concoct a humorous one...

Oh, the joy of being a woman! And even more joy of being a mother! When I was raising my son, I wished I had four arms to carry him and tote all the crap he needed to keep him (and me) happy and content. Then, as he became older, I wished that I was at least three people. One to be a stay at home mom, one to work and make money and one that could just be a single, childless female. As that single female childless female I wished I could have three men. One with a sense of humor, one with a great body and sexual prowess and one that had a gob of money. If wishes were horses, I would have had a non-stop carousel with lovely music! Instead I just lived on a Tilt-A Whirl going in all directions at 90 miles a minute!

I'm reading your post while watching Amazing Race. I guess we both need to pay attention. I don't have a favorite yet. How 'bout you?

Let me know how that time management thing works for you.

Where does the time go? Like sand through the hour glass, these are the days or our lives. No, wait. That's from a soap opera.

Sioux,
I am experienced in the lemonade department. I have an idea simmering on a back burner for that one.

In other culinary developments...are you a 5PAM inspector? Because I swear I've left a couple of comments on you blog that disappear. The last one was telling you what comes out of my butt. You know...since you asked.

knancy,
Careful what you wish for!

Stephen,
I'm for the most hated duo of all time, Brendon and Rachel. I find them quite entertaining, but not in an evil way like those divorced daters. The fake schoolteachers are also one of my picks, as are Bopper and Mark.

Linda,
Well, if I can tear myself away from reality TV, I'll keep you updated.

Donna,
I used to love the beginning of that show, but never watched past it. I was a General Hospital, One Life to Live kind of gal.
